This week's special guest is Clare Edwards from Brain-Smart.com

As we come up to the silly season, we'll have family functions with lots of meat and uncomfortable conversations. So this topic is very relevant.

SERVE YOURSELF FIRST! A Focus on Self-care for the Silly Season
An 'Eat, Learn, Grow' Session from BrainSmart

As we officially enter what’s been coined ‘the silly season’, it’s a good time to take a step back and reflect on how you want to be in it, meaning, do you just want to get through and survive, or do you want to look back and be grateful for a time of connection, restoration and joy?

The silly season brings with it myriad challenges including for many:-
  • a major business ramp up/wind down
  • extended time with relatives we haven't connected with in a while
  • our values being challenged with differences in opinion and taste
  • sensitivities and emotions surfacing after a year of suppression
  • challenges to our physical and mental health

Serve yourself First! is an exploration into the world of self-care from differing perspectives and why, though maybe an overused cliché, we need to metaphorically put on our own oxygen masks first, before helping others.

There are conditions that our brains and bodies require to function effectively and when any of those conditions are neglected, the whole system is impacted and with negative consequences.

It’s time to invest some quality time learning about the benefits of self-care, what self-care does to our amazing brains (the neuroscience of self-care) and simple, easy-to-implement strategies to replenish your cup and recharge your batteries for good!

This silly season, let’s set ourselves up for success not stress!
