RUNCorps® Run Club sessions are structured to suit individual capabilities and to ensure that no one gets left behind. We cater for beginners to elites and we’re passionate about supporting you to become a more proficient runner. Our experienced coaches don’t just stand on the sidelines yelling orders, they run with you and support you through every session. Our training program is periodised which means sessions are structured around four-week cycles of progressively-loaded training with plenty of variety – the key to improving your fitness whilst reducing your risk of injury. Hills A great way to develop speed and strength as they require extra effort to run uphill. You don’t need to run as fast as you would on flat terrain. They’re also great for learning how to control your breathing and more importantly descending! Intervals Speed sessions that are run on a flat surface, we use both road and track, at close to your threshold pace with longer rest between sets. Time Trials We begin each new training cycle with a time trial to give both you and your coach valuable information – a repeatable measure of your current level of performance against the clock. Fartlek Swedish for “speed play”, Fartlek sessions work on speed and stamina by alternating between hard and easy running. Tempo Also known as lactate-threshold runs, our Tempo sessions are described as “comfortably hard”. They’re done at a faster, more controlled pace, intended to build both mental and physical endurance. Progression We begin slow and easy, and finish fast! Progression runs are not only fun, but they are also a great way to boost your fitness without any lasting fatigue.
