On offer for the first time in 25 years, the R&D Manager Baking & Breakfast along with a team of two Technologists facilitates the delivery, at pace, of an insight driven, commercially powerful and purpose-aligned innovation pipeline within the business.
 
This role is a true blend of hands on lab time and category leadership support activities. The role works within established robust processes to ensure the disciplined and successful development, launch and review of high value innovation initiatives, including new products, promotional job lots, and value optimisation initiatives across the Baking and Breakfast categories.
 
About You:

  • A passion for food
  • 10+ years’ experience in food product development and R&D, preferably in a fast-paced FMCG environment
  • An Innovation / new product management leader with demonstrated examples of end to end NPD experience
  • Detailed knowledge of Food Standards Code & Food Safety Legislation
  • Significant understanding of business requirements and technical limitations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience leading a high performing, close knit team
  • Ability to influence and align different stakeholder groups
  • Experience in production or quality assurance in the food industry is desirable.
 
About the role:
  • Manage New Product Development (NPD) transformation, innovation and high priority renovation
  • Proactively drive projects to meet launch timings, including ensuring technical aspects are clearly defined, risks and barriers are raised and mitigated
  • For allocated projects oversee all trials, commercial production, project management and customer engagement (as appropriate).
  • Work closely with Marketing, Procurement, Engineering, Project Managers to ensure major NPD costs are managed within budget/approvals.
  • A commitment to safety and product excellence in line with business and industry standards.
  • Build-in quality (do it right first time) and problem-solving bias through training, daily management system/OES accountability mechanisms, change management and agile (PCDA) orientation linked to NPD projects.
The role is based in Glendenning, Western Sydney and reports into the Head of Marketing, Baking Bakery and Breakfast who is based in Melbourne.
