Strength and recovery are often treated as separate disciplines. Train hard in one room, recover in another. Push in one session, unwind later.

But what if they belonged together?

Nestled within Healing on Spring in Bondi Junction, Get a Grip Fitness by Cristina Poon is introducing Australia’s first dedicated red light calisthenics studio concept,  a purpose-built training environment designed around a simple idea: strength and recovery should exist in the same space.

Built around structured bodyweight training and progressive adaptation, the studio integrates red and near-infrared light therapy directly into sessions alongside fully immersive recovery classes held entirely under red light.

It’s a space designed around how the body actually adapts: stress, stimulus, repair, regulate and repeat.

The studio fit-out reflects the philosophy. Inside you’ll find stall bars, a pull-up bar, gymnastic rings and six full-body red and near-infrared light panels.

Rather than relying on heavy external load, Get a Grip focuses on intelligent bodyweight strength, skill development, and control layered intentionally with red light exposure at key moments within the session to support performance and recovery.

In addition to the newly introduced red light calisthenics strength class which will be women's only, Get A Grip offers additional classes - each structured as a “ritual”-  designed to either build strength or restore the nervous system.

Strength Classes

Small Group Calisthenics
A focused, small-group strength session limited to just 5 women per class blending calisthenics and functional training to build control, stability and body awareness. With an emphasis on progressive skill development and mindful coaching, the class helps you master your own bodyweight through foundational movements while building strength that feels grounded, capable and responsive.

The Pilates Ritual
An intentional, breath-led strength practice focused on deep core activation, alignment and controlled movement. Held under soft red and near-infrared light, the session is designed to build integrated strength from the inside out while releasing unnecessary tension and supporting a more regulated, connected state in the body.

The Slow Flow Yoga Ritual
A moving meditation that blends grounding stillness with strength and breath-led flow. Practised under red light, the class is designed to build circulation, dissolve physical and mental tension, and guide the body toward a balanced state of calm, clarity and embodied awareness.

Recovery Classes

The Release Ritual
A somatic release practice using intentional pressure, breath and trigger-point tools to support tissue health and fascial hydration. Positioned between mobility training and massage, it’s structured to help reduce bracing and restore internal space.

The Breathwork Ritual
A guided internal reset through breath pacing and nervous system regulation. Designed to shift the body out of stress and into balance, easing emotional tension and mental load.

The Slow Flow Yoga Ritual
A strength-meets-stillness practice under red light, blending yoga and controlled strength work to build internal heat, circulation and flow while encouraging deep reconnection to the body.

The Mobility Ritual
Strength-based mobility training that complements performance work. Focused on joint control, coordination and fluidity, bridging the gap between training and recovery.

The Recovery Ritual
A red-light immersion experience centred on stillness and parasympathetic reset. Long-held restorative positions calm the nervous system, ease muscular tension and support deep recovery.

Yoga Nidra & Soundbath
A guided deep rest session pairing Yoga Nidra with immersive sound to support neurological regulation, mental clarity and full-body restoration.

Get A Grip Founder Cristina Poon describes the concept as a holistic approach to training that integrates strength, recovery and nervous system regulation within one environment. “We truly believe as the mind affects the body, the body affects the mind. This studio is a multi-sensory, first-of-its-kind approach to using movement as a tool for emotional, psychological and physical transformation.”
