Conversations around mental health are evolving and so is the way we’re being encouraged to approach performance, pressure, and resilience in everyday life.
A new live event, Built to Last: Conversations on Resilience, is bringing this important conversation into the spotlight, with a panel of voices from sport, fitness and community coming together at Elixr Health Club this April.
Presented in collaboration with Rally4Ever and Easts, the event is designed to move beyond surface-level advice creating space for more honest, practical discussions around what it really takes to sustain mental wellbeing over time.

A Conversation Grounded in Real Experience
Rather than focusing on theory, the panel centres on lived experience offering perspectives shaped by high-performance sport, business leadership and personal adversity.
The discussion will explore how resilience is built in real life, touching on the role of discipline, connection, and support systems in navigating pressure both on and off the field.

Meet the Speakers
The panel brings together three distinct voices, each with their own perspective on performance and mental health:

  • Richard Chew -  Founder of Elixr and former international karate champion, Richard will share insights from his personal journey including experiences with clinical depression, financial hardship and loss, and how resilience became a cornerstone of his recovery.
  • Louise Pleming - Former professional tennis player and Grand Slam commentator, Louise is the founder of Rally4Ever. Her work focuses on reducing loneliness through sport and community, highlighting the critical link between connection and mental wellbeing.
  • William Hopoate - With a background in elite rugby league, William brings perspective on managing pressure in high-performance environments, and the importance of maintaining balance beyond sport.

An Important Conversation
As more people navigate high-pressure lifestyles (whether in sport, business or everyday life) there’s a growing need for authentic conversations that go beyond quick fixes and focus on what’s sustainable.
Events like this reflect the importance of more open, experience-led discussions around mental health, where vulnerability, community and practical tools are part of the conversation.
