Finding a natural deodorant that keeps odour under control without irritating sensitive skin can feel like an endless search.

New Zealand personal care brand Dulesé (pronounced "do less") has officially launched in Australia with a refillable natural deodorant designed to do both.

Founded by Kiwi entrepreneur Amelia Jory and developed alongside experienced formulators, the cream-based formula is made without aluminium, baking soda or synthetic fragrance, ingredients that can be problematic for some people.

The idea came after Jory experienced ongoing irritation from conventional deodorants and struggled to find a natural alternative she genuinely wanted to use.

"It got me thinking about what we apply to our skin every day and whether it could be doing more harm than good," says Jory.

"After researching the ingredients commonly found in personal care products, I realised there was an opportunity to create something simpler. Something that feels good to use, is kinder to the planet and still performs."

Dulesé takes its name from the idea of "doing less", focusing on thoughtfully formulated products that simplify rather than complicate daily routines. The deodorant combines magnesium hydroxide, tapioca starch and nourishing plant oils to help neutralise odour, absorb moisture and support skin comfort. It also contains Dermosoft®, which helps target odour-causing microbes without relying on harsher ingredients.

Sustainability was another key focus. With an estimated 3.2 billion plastic deodorant containers discarded globally every year, Dulesé's forest-green case is made from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled materials and is designed to be refilled rather than replaced.

The brand's debut scent, No.1, was created by a French-trained perfumer and is designed to double as both a deodorant and solid cologne. The 100 per cent natural, COSMOS-certified fragrance is free from synthetic fragrance and combines clean, fresh notes with subtle smoky and herbaceous undertones.

"It's slightly smoky yet fresh and clean, with notes reminiscent of fresh laundry and a subtle herbaceousness, like spending time near a tomato and basil patch at home," says Jory.

Formulated as a unisex scent, No.1 offers an elevated alternative to the fragrances often found in natural personal care products.

Recently named a finalist in the Clean + Conscious Awards for Best Natural Deodorant across Australia and New Zealand, Dulesé retails for $40 for the refillable case and first refill, with additional refills priced at $34.99.

It’s available via dulese.com.au, selected stockists and a flexible refill subscription service.
