Ladies, if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to freedive but are nervous or looking for the most supportive environment to do so, look no further! Bondi based freediving school Immersia Freediving has partnered up with local community women’s group Bondi Beach Babes to run a women’s only freediving course from 15-16 October in Bondi. The course is all about helping women to learn how to freedive with confidence and fall in love with freediving, enabling women to challenge themselves and experience the magic of the underwater world in a supportive environment without the comparison. ‘When I was coming up through the world of freediving, I would have loved the opportunity to train in an all-female group. Not because I prefer exclusivity, but because it was so common to be the only female in a group of water-confident dudes with spearfishing or surfing backgrounds. I felt (literally) out of my depth, vulnerable, and pretty pathetic at times. After the course it was hard to find a group of likeminded women to connect with.’ The course is completely beginner friendly and doesn’t require any advanced swimming or scuba skills. You’ll learn how to hold your breath for up to three minutes, freedive up to 16 metres deep, understand the science behind freediving and use breathing and mental techniques to find calmness underwater.
