How often do you unlock your phone to reply to a message, check the weather or look up one thing, only to find yourself 20 minutes deep in a completely different corner of the internet? On 6 June 2026, a new nationwide initiative is encouraging Australians to do the opposite. Launched by community-focused social platform KRUNK, World Anti-Doomscrolling Day is a call to spend less time staring at a screen and more time doing something in the real world. To mark the occasion, a series of free community runs, workouts and meet-ups will take place across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It's hard to ignore just how much of life now happens through a screen. News updates arrive by the minute, social feeds never stop refreshing and there's always something else demanding your attention. World Anti-Doomscrolling Day isn't asking you to delete your apps or disappear into the wilderness. It's simply an invitation to put your phone down for a few hours and do something else instead like going for a run, joining a workout, meet some new people or catch up with friends. Across the country, communities will come together through movement and shared experiences designed to get people interacting face-to-face rather than through a comment section. The initiative is being led by KRUNK, a platform created to help people connect through run clubs, fitness communities and real-world events. According to KRUNK founder Tobias Quinn, the idea came from a growing need for more meaningful connection away from the constant pull of notifications and endless scrolling. "We're spending more time on our phones than ever before, but many people feel more disconnected than ever," says Quinn. "World Anti-Doomscrolling Day is about creating a reason for people to put the phone down, get outside, move their bodies and reconnect. Whether that's with friends, their local community or simply themselves." For one day at least, the goal is simple: spend less time watching what everyone else is doing and more time doing something yourself. Event Details
