Obstacle course racing is heading to Queensland this May as the OCR Community World Championships arrive at Ivory Rock Peaks Crossing for two action-packed days of endurance, teamwork and global competition.
Taking place 21-22 May 2026, the internationally recognised event will welcome elite and amateur athletes from around the world, bringing together the global obstacle racing community for what is widely regarded as the sport’s most inclusive and athlete-driven championship.
Since launching in 2014, the OCR Community World Championships have become the premier independent world championship for obstacle course racing, providing a neutral global stage where competitors from different race series and backgrounds can come together to test their strength, speed and resilience.
Four Championship Race Formats
The 2026 Championships will feature four different race formats, allowing athletes across a range of experience levels to compete.
- 80m Obstacle Course - A fast-paced sprint discipline that focuses on speed, precision and technical skill. The 80m format is gaining international attention after being selected for inclusion in the Modern Pentathlon at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Time trials will be held on Thursday, followed by a head-to-head playoff final under lights on Friday evening.
- 3K Championship- Designed as an explosive short-format race, the 3K course includes 15 or more obstacles that demand both power and endurance.
- 6K Relay Championships- Teams of three athletes compete across a four-leg, 6K course featuring more than 25 obstacles, finishing together in a final team leg.
- 15K Championship - The original championship race, this demanding endurance event challenges competitors with 40+ obstacles across rugged terrain, pushing athletes to their limits.
While qualification is required for the 3K and 15K Pro divisions, many of the event categories are designed to be accessible to athletes of varying abilities, reinforcing the championship’s strong community focus.
Celebrating The Global OCR Community
In addition to crowning overall world champions, the event will also recognise Age Group World Champions, celebrating the diversity and depth of the obstacle racing community.
The OCR Community World Championships remain the only independent and athlete-focused world championship in the sport, welcoming competitors from across all OCR brands, disciplines and race formats worldwide.
A Spectacular Australian Setting
The 2026 championships will take place at Ivory Rock Peaks Crossing, located less than an hour from Brisbane Airport.
Spanning more than 1,700 acres of Australian bushland, the venue features rolling hills, native wildlife and expansive nature trails centred around an ancient volcanic formation known locally as “The Rock.”
Known as Muntambin by First Nations people, meaning native plum, the landscape offers a striking natural arena for obstacle racing and reflects the scale and spirit of the Australian outdoors.
For competitors and spectators alike, the event promises two days of world-class racing, global connection and serious adventure.
