March marks Endometriosis Awareness Month, a time to make visible a condition that affects around 1 in 7 women, girls and those presumed female at birth in Australia. This year, Australian fashion label SABO partnered with Endometriosis Australia to release a limited-edition T-shirt designed to spark conversation and drive change. The “Her Pain Has a Name” shirt sold out within days, with 100% of profits donated directly to Endometriosis Australia to support awareness, education, and research. The rapid sell-out just highlights how many women this conversation resonates with, and that Australians are ready to stand behind meaningful change. This initiative was deeply personal for the SABO team. The brand’s founders, along with several team members, live with endometriosis and the brand has long advocated for greater recognition of the disease. Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pelvic pain, fatigue, fertility challenges and long-term health impacts. There is currently no cure, and definitive diagnosis often requires surgery. For many, diagnosis takes years. Too often, pain is dismissed, symptoms are minimised, and experiences are questioned. This campaign reinforces a simple truth: this pain has a name and it deserves to be acknowledged.
