Spartan Race Australia has just dropped the first look at its 2026 calendar, and if you’re setting new fitness goals for the year ahead, this line-up is guaranteed to light you up!

Tough Mudder, DEKA and Spartan are all returning with bigger courses, tougher challenges and fresh locations across Victoria and New South Wales. Thousands of Aussies are expected to take part as the season kicks off in late January, bringing together everyone from first-timers to seasoned racers for a year of grit, growth and community.

The action begins in Melbourne on 31 January 2026 as Tough Mudder returns to the city for the first time in six years, taking over Caribbean Gardens with its most ambitious course designs yet. Expect the classic Tough Mudder blend of adrenaline and camaraderie across the 15-kilometre course with 20 obstacles, the 5-kilometre course with 12 or more obstacles, and the endurance-focused Infinity category. With ice plunges, electric shocks, mud pits, walls and team-driven challenges, it’s everything the global Tough Mudder community loves- followed by a festival zone with food trucks, a bar and entertainment to help you celebrate the moment you cross the finish line.

On the same weekend, from 31 January to 1 February, Caribbean Gardens will also host a full DEKA Trifecta Weekend. For anyone who loves functional training, this is the hybrid fitness event of the year. Created by the Spartan team, DEKA offers a structured, measurable challenge across three race formats: DEKA FIT, combining 10 functional zones with a 500-metre run before each one; DEKA MILE, which shortens the run to 160 metres; and DEKA STRONG, a run-free format that puts pure output and mental resilience to the test. It’s a huge opportunity for functional fitness fans to benchmark their performance, especially as Australian athletes like Calypso Sheridan, Liam Meadham, Daniel Payne and James Hall continue to raise the bar nationally.

A few weeks later, on 21 February 2026, the spotlight shifts to New South Wales for a brand-new Spartan venue at Glenworth Valley on the Central Coast. Known for its rugged bushland, river crossings and sweeping landscapes, Glenworth Valley is set to host one of the most scenic and physically demanding Spartan trifectas Australia has ever seen. The event will feature the 5-kilometre Sprint with 20 obstacles, the 10-kilometre Super with 20 obstacles (also part of the National Series), the 21-kilometre Beast with 30 obstacles, and the 1-3 kilometre Kids Race, which also acts as an APAC qualifier for the World Championships. With camping and glamping available onsite plus a festival village for athletes and supporters, the weekend is designed to offer both challenge and connection.

According to Spartan Australia, the growing demand for transformative fitness experiences is setting the tone for what will be their most ambitious season yet. With the mud-soaked challenge of Tough Mudder, the precision and intensity of DEKA and the raw, natural terrain of Spartan racing, the 2026 calendar offers something for every type of athlete.

Registrations for all events are now open, and if you’ve been waiting for the right moment to commit to a big goal for 2026, this might just be it.
