This week marks the 12th annual Jean Hailes for Women’s Health Week- the country’s largest initiative devoted to the health and wellbeing of women by Australia’s trusted leader in women’s health, so if you’re seeing extra information on important women’s health topics pop up on your social media feeds, or being shared in your workplace this is why. The theme for this year is #YourVoiceYourChoice, because as their CEO Dr Sarah White explains ‘women are empowered to enjoy good health and wellbeing when they have voice, choice and power to make their own decisions about their health’. This year’s Jean Hailes for Women’s Health Week acknowledges how ‘many women feel their voices are not heard when they seek health care’ and that ‘health care choices are also limited [including] that doctors with knowledge about a particular women’s health issue are hard to find’. As part of the initiative you can get your hands on a range of helpful resources to help support your own health and wellbeing and that of the women around you. These fact sheets covering anxiety, Endometriosis, ageing, heart health, Menopause, Sexual & reproductive health, nutrition and more are available in 19 different languages so if you have a family member or work colleague that you want to share them with that doesn’t speak English you can! Not sure what health checks you should be undergoing for your age group or what ones your Mum or sister should be? This handy guide covers health checks that are important for women across all different age groups and again it’s available in different languages. You can also get your hands on a new 40 page booklet that is packed with info on the most asked about topics that come up as part of Jean Hailes for Women’s Health Week including:
