There are plenty of changes you're prepared for when you have a baby. Finding what can seem like half your hair in the shower a few months later isn't always one of them.
Postpartum hair shedding is incredibly common, but that doesn't make it any less alarming when it happens to you.
During pregnancy, hormonal changes can keep more hairs in their growth phase for longer, which is partly why some women notice particularly thick, full hair while they're pregnant. After birth, falling oestrogen levels allow those extra hairs to enter the shedding phase, often resulting in noticeably more hair coming out at once.
The good news is that this type of postpartum shedding is usually temporary. It commonly peaks around four months after giving birth, with hair typically returning towards its usual growth cycle over the months that follow.

It's worth remembering that postpartum hair shedding is a normal physiological process rather than something a supplement can simply switch off. Significant or persistent hair loss can also have other causes (including nutritional deficiencies and thyroid changes) so it's worth speaking with your healthcare professional if something doesn't seem right.
