This could just be the best-looking bathhouse we’ve seen in Australia so far. Adorned with a dreamy fit out that will make you feel like you’ve packed your bags and landed somewhere far away, The Banya has officially opened the doors to its wellness oasis in Mullumbimby. A short drive out of Byron Bay, this new bathhouse and the first of its kind for the Northern Rivers region, offers an immersive experience enabling wellness lovers to reap the benefits of the ancient European wellbeing practice of social bathing and connection.
 
The luxe space features a communal pool for a refreshing dip, two large warm mineral spas to help your body unwind, a wood-fired sauna and steam room where you can sweat out toxins, a cold plunge pool to boost your immune metabolic and lymphatic systems, and a two person sauna bucket waterfall shower so you can douse yourself (and your mates) with cool water when you're fresh out of the sauna.

The Banya's dreamy massage menu includes deep tissue, relaxation, and pregnancy massages to enable visitors to melt even further into a rejuvenated state. But the best bit about this space is that it's been created with social bathing in mind- an ancient practice inviting you and your mates to come together to enjoy wellness therapies and social fun under one roof.
 
Once you and your friends have treated yourself to a soak, steam, plunge or massage — or all of the above (why not we say?)— you can refuel at the onsite dining room and bar which opens up onto the pool courtyard or have your order delivered to the sunbeds located upstairs. The menu has an array of healthy and gluten free options including a healing broth, healthy veggie and protein bowl or if you’re up for something a little more indulgent you can opt for a margarita and fresh oysters.
