We all know about the war on single-use plastics, and presently it isn’t looking like a fair fight – but new Australian start-up ZERO is turning the tide with the introduction of plastic-free, home compostable wipes.

A whopping 91% of all plastic produced NEVER gets recycled, and wipes are a huge culprit with 90% of all wipes being made from plastic. We’ve got beaches, wildlife, and landscapes that deserve better.

ZERO WIPES are plastic and chemical-free. Made from sustainably sourced viscose, they are home compostable and have been designed for multiple purpose use - think splatter cleaner, makeup remover, babies’ bottoms, general spills and more - eliminating the need for multiple different products. Simply wet, rinse and repeat, the material of ZERO WIPES is extremely soft and non-abrasive on even the most sensitive skin yet is engineered to be super strong. The go-to for when things get messy.

Developed by parents for parents, ZERO is on a mission to change the wipes game forever and create a plastic-free future for our little ones.

Founder and CEO, Georgina Carberry explains, "We know it takes a village to raise a child, and we want to support those villages far and wide – developing ZERO is all about providing parents with convenience without the plastic baggage. We’re here to tackle some of the biggest single-use plastic categories, to provide plastic-free solutions that make parenting a breeze”.

When designing ZERO WIPES the team focused on delivering a high-performing, affordable product in sustainable packaging.

Co-Founder and Head of Design, Damien West partnered with leading universities and researchers to ensure sustainable and compostable materials could stand up to the everyday tasks of family life, “We designed ZERO to have the lowest footprint possible, therefore reusability was high on our list of priorities, an added benefit of the dry wipe is that we create fewer Greenhouse Gas Emissions by shipping a lightweight product.” said West.

The global wipes industry is set to reach $30.18 billion USD by 2030 and the ZERO team have big ambitions to transition the world away from plastic wipes. To date, with Carberry at the helm, My Childe, the company behind the ZERO brand has raised over $1.9 million in capital and the company is setting its sights on scaling up to dominate the global wipes category and end our reliance on single-use plastic wipes.

“We’re just getting started – ground zero is all about cutting down plastic waste with the products we use every day as a family, today we have dry wipes available, and soon we will release wet wipes, and we have nappies on the horizon. It’s all about taking small steps with big ideas, reducing the ecological footprint of children and parents,” said Carberry.

ZERO WIPES can be found today in Blooms Chemist, QE Food Stores, Harris Farm and online at thezerostore.com.
