Swisse is going green with the intro of sustainable packaging and we’re here for it

As consumers start to shift spending choices based on creating a better, more sustainable future, product-based industries are stepping it up when it comes to waste, and now one of the biggest players in the vitamins space has announced a commitment to creating recycled packaging.

So that they’re now friendlier for the planet, mega supplement brand Swisse has started to updated their packaging, starting with of a few of its star products:

• Swisse Earth range packaging is now made from an award-winning, fully recyclable packaging that is bio-based, instead of being produced through fossil fuels
• Gummies containers are made from 100% recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET)
• Women’s and men’s multivitamins containers are now made with 50% post-consumer recycled material
• The probiotics range is made with Oysterlean, a shellfish additive sustainably sourced from fishing waste — its inclusion replacing 20% of virgin plastic in the capsules

Setting this example for the rest of the health industry doesn’t come without its challenges, and the brand has pointed out there are still certain barriers to creating sustainable packaging for supplements including sourcing the best materials for product stability and shelf-life, as well as the availability of innovated materials.
