Eastern suburbians, listen up! For a limited time only you can get up to $100 back from the council when you make the switch to reusable period products or nappies for a more sustainable world. Did you know that women use approximately 11,000 disposable menstrual products over their lifetime, which equates to around 200kgs of single-use waste per person, and that the average parent will buy around 6,000 single-use nappies for each of their children, all of which will take approximately 150 years to break down in landfill?! If you have been wanting to try reusable products, now is the perfect time to make the switch. Not only will you be doing your part for the environment and saving money in the long run, for the next two months Waverly council is offering anyone in their LGA up to 50% of the cost back when they make the switch for purchases up to $200 — so you could spend $200 on new period undies, reusable pads or reusable nappies and get $100 back. This initiative is part of the NSW Environment Protection Authority Waste Less, Recycle More project, funded from the waste levy, to address the increasing issue of single-use waste in the area. If this doesn’t make you want to make the switch, we don’t know what will! Grab your fave sustainable products and make your claim before 30th June. ___
