How Genetic Insights Can Shape Your Anti-Ageing and Longevity Strategy

I've spent over 20 years in health and human performance, and I can tell you this with absolute certainty: the anti-ageing industry has gotten it backwards.

We're obsessed with the latest supplement, the newest biohack, the trending longevity protocol. But here's what nobody's talking about: you cannot optimise what you do not measure. And when it comes to aging, most people are guessing in the dark.

After analysing over 500 genetic and epigenetic reports, I've seen firsthand how two people can follow the exact same anti-ageing protocol and get completely different results. One person's miracle supplement is another person's expensive mistake. The reason? Their genetics are fundamentally different.

Let me explain how understanding your genetic blueprint can transform your approach to longevity and why combining it with epigenetic testing is the game-changer most people are missing.

Your Genes Aren't Your Destiny (But They Are Your Starting Point)

I carry genetic variants in MTHFR, COMT, and several detox pathways. For 20 years, I suffered debilitating anxiety and night terrors. I tried everything, meditation, therapy, different diets, supplements, stress management techniques. Nothing worked long-term.

Then I got my genetic testing done. Within months of adjusting my nutrition and supplementation to align with my genetic variants, the anxiety that had controlled my life for two decades completely resolved. Not managed. Resolved.

This is what I mean when I say genetics aren't destiny- they're a roadmap. Your genes don't determine your fate, but they do determine which roads will be easier or harder for you to travel.

When it comes to anti-ageing, certain genetic markers can tell us crucial information about how you'll age and what interventions will work best for your unique biology.

The Longevity Genes That Matter

Not all ageing is created equal. Some people's cardiovascular systems age faster than their brains. Others have robust detoxification but struggle with inflammation. Your genetics can reveal these patterns before they become problems.

APOE variants influence your cardiovascular health and Alzheimer's risk. If you carry certain APOE variants, your brain might need different support than someone with a different genetic profile. This isn't fear-mongering, it's empowering information that allows you to be proactive rather than reactive.

FOXO3 genes are associated with longevity pathways. Understanding how yours function can guide decisions around fasting protocols, caloric restriction, and specific nutrient timing strategies that either amplify or undermine your natural longevity mechanisms.

Detoxification genes like GSTT1, GSTM1, and various CYP genes determine how efficiently you clear toxins from your body. In our modern world, toxic burden accelerates aging. If your detox pathways are genetically compromised, you need targeted support and not the generic "cleanse" everyone's selling on Instagram.

Why Genetics Alone Isn't Enough

Here's where most genetic testing falls short: it tells you what you were born with, but not what's happening in your body right now.

This is why I exclusively work with both genetic AND epigenetic testing. Epigenetics measures which genes are actually being expressed based on your current lifestyle, diet, stress levels, and environment. It's the difference between having a blueprint and knowing which parts of the building are actually being constructed.

Through epigenetic testing, I can measure your biological age versus your chronological age. I've had 45-year-old clients discover they're biologically 52, and 60-year-olds testing at 48. That's powerful data that proves whether your anti-ageing protocols are actually working or just making you feel good.

The Systems-Based Approach to Longevity

One of the biggest mistakes I see in the longevity space is tunnel vision. Someone focuses obsessively on their mitochondria while ignoring their detoxification pathways. Or they're all-in on hormones but their methylation is completely broken.

Everything in your body is connected. Your mental health affects your inflammation. Your detox capacity influences your hormones. Your sleep quality impacts your cellular repair. When I analyse genetic reports, I'm looking for patterns across multiple systems, not isolated variants.

For example, if someone has MTHFR variants (affecting methylation), COMT variants (affecting stress hormone breakdown), and compromised detox genes, I know their body is under significant stress at a cellular level. No amount of expensive NAD+ supplements will move the needle if we don't first address the foundational methylation and detoxification support their genetics are demanding.

Peptides and Personalised Longevity Support

Over the past few years, I've expanded my work to include peptide therapy as part of comprehensive longevity protocols. Peptides are incredibly powerful tools for anti-ageing, tissue repair, immune function, and metabolic optimisation, but they're not one-size-fits-all.

Understanding someone's genetic predispositions allows me to recommend peptide support that complements their biology rather than working against it. This personalised approach, guided by both genetic insights and epigenetic tracking, allows us to measure whether specific peptide protocols are actually improving biological age markers and organ-specific ageing.

What This Looks Like in Practice

When I work with clients through my DNAge programs, we're not just looking at a genetic report and calling it a day. I spend 2-3 hours analysing their results before we even meet. Then we have 60-90 minute deep-dive consultation not the industry-standard 15-30 minute rushes.

We look at their genetics (the static blueprint), their epigenetics (what's happening now), and we create protocols that address nutrition, detoxification, supplementation, sleep, recovery, and lifestyle factors specific to their biology. Then we retest epigenetically to prove the protocols are working- not guessing, measuring.

Clients consistently tell me "I finally feel heard" and "This explains everything." That's because we're not following a generic anti-ageing protocol pulled from the internet. We're creating a roadmap based on their unique biology.

The Investment That Pays Dividends

I know genetic and epigenetic testing represents a financial investment. But consider this: how much money have you already spent on supplements that didn't work? How many years have you lost to trial and error?

This is a one-time investment in understanding your biology that pays dividends for the rest of your life. You don't need to keep guessing. You can know what your body needs and measure whether it's working.

My father-built wealth but lost his health, passing away at 65. I won't let that be your story, or your family's story. That's what drives me, helping people get ahead of their biology so they can be there for the moments that matter most. The data exists, the testing exists, and the personalised protocols work- I've seen it in over 500 clients and in my own transformation.

You cannot optimise what you do not measure. And when it comes to longevity, your genetics and epigenetics are the most powerful measurement tools you have.
