Everyone Asks About The Baby But This New Supplement Is Asking About Mum

There's an enormous amount of attention placed on what women need nutritionally while they're trying to conceive and throughout pregnancy, but once the baby arrives, much of that attention suddenly shifts to the newborn’s needs.

KRUMBLED Foods wants to change that with Postpartum Replenish, a new daily drink formulated specifically with the nutritional demands of the postpartum period in mind.

The launch expands the Australian brand's growing maternal wellness offering and tackles something founder Keira Rumble knows firsthand: while everyone is understandably asking about the baby, new mums can find themselves navigating recovery, broken sleep, breastfeeding and the enormous physical and emotional adjustment to motherhood all at once.

And despite the way we often talk about postpartum recovery, it doesn't magically end at the six-week check-up.

Recovering from pregnancy and birth can take months, and for many women the physical, nutritional and emotional adjustment continues throughout the first year and beyond. In fact, recent research involving more than 1,100 women found fewer than half considered themselves fully recovered across physical, mental, sexual and functional areas by three to six months after giving birth.

Add breastfeeding, disrupted sleep, changing nutritional demands and the enormous adjustment that comes with caring for a new baby, and it's easy to see why the idea that a woman should simply “bounce back” after a matter of weeks feels so disconnected from the reality many mums experience.

It's this much longer window that KRUMBLED Foods is turning its attention to with Postpartum Replenish, which has been designed as a simple daily ritual women can continue beyond those early weeks, whether they're breastfeeding or not.

So what's actually inside?

The citrus-flavoured powder combines magnesium, zinc, choline, vitamin D, active forms of vitamins B6 and B12 and myo-inositol, alongside Actazin® kiwifruit, acacia fibre and a five-strain postbiotic blend.

It's a thoughtful combination that touches on several areas particularly relevant during recovery. Magnesium and B vitamins contribute to normal energy metabolism, zinc plays a role in normal immune function and wound healing, while choline contributes to normal fat metabolism and liver function.

Then there's digestive health — an aspect of postpartum recovery that isn't always discussed quite as openly.

Actazin® kiwifruit has been included to support normal bowel function and regularity, alongside fibre and the postbiotic blend to support gastrointestinal health and digestive comfort.

The formula is caffeine-free, gluten-free, refined-sugar-free and vegetarian-friendly, and is designed to be mixed into 200ml of cold water once a day.

Perhaps most importantly, though, Postpartum Replenish reflects a welcome change in the conversation around maternal wellness: having a baby doesn't mark the end of looking after mum's nutritional needs.

As KRUMBLED puts it, postpartum doesn't come with a use-by date.

Postpartum Replenish is available now for $60.
