More than 12 years ago, Australian skincare brand Mukti Organics set out to challenge what people expected from certified organic skincare with the launch of its Age Defiance collection.
Now, more than a decade later, the range is getting its biggest evolution yet.
Age Defiance has been reimagined as
Bioactive Renewal, a three-product skincare system bringing together bioactive peptides, high-performance actives and certified organic ingredients, supported by new in-vitro testing, refined formulations and updated packaging.
While plenty has changed in skincare over the past 12 years, the evolution taps into something we find very interesting: the increasingly blurry line between natural skincare and the sophisticated actives once more closely associated with clinical formulations.
Mukti Organics has long sat at the intersection of the two. Founded by skincare formulator Mukti, the Australian-made brand formulates its products in-house in the Byron Bay hinterland and combines certified organic botanicals with active ingredients selected for their performance.
Bioactive Renewal takes that approach a step further, with three targeted products designed to work together across the day, night and delicate eye area.
The Bioactive Renewal Day Serum is a lightweight peptide formula designed to support the appearance of firmness and elasticity while softening the look of expression lines and helping protect skin against everyday environmental stress.
At night, the Bioactive Renewal Night Serum takes over, supporting the skin's natural overnight renewal processes with a formula that includes 1% bakuchiol, niacinamide and vitamin C alongside botanical ingredients.
Interestingly, the Night Serum itself hasn't been completely reformulated. Mukti has retained the existing formula while removing its added scent profile and putting it through new independent in-vitro testing.
The results give the brand some new data behind an established favourite, with testing finding an 18.1% increase in skin repair activity and a 17.8% increase in skin renewal activity in vitro.
The biggest physical transformation, however, has happened around the eyes.
The former Age Defiance Eye Serum has been reformulated into the richer Bioactive Renewal Eye Crème, designed to support collagen renewal while targeting the appearance of fine lines, elasticity and signs of fatigue.
Together, the three formulas are designed as a complete system for what Mukti calls “evolving skin”, language we love in a beauty category that has historically been rather obsessed with telling women they need to fight ageing altogether.
Perhaps that's what makes this evolution so interesting. More than 12 years after Age Defiance first launched, Mukti is still grounded in the same certified organic philosophy, but what can be achieved within that framework has come a long way. Bioactive Renewal shows just how far both the brand - and high-performance organic skincare - have evolved.
