Sydney's bathhouse scene just got a major new addition, with Melbourne favourite Sense Of Self officially opening the doors to its first Sydney location in Surry Hills. Four years in the making, the enormous 1,200-square-metre space is home to hot mineral pools, Finnish saunas, cold plunges and a few features Sydney bathers haven't experienced before.

Housed in the former Sydney Antiques Centre on South Dowling Street, the new bathhouse has been designed as a place to completely disconnect from technology, slow down and enjoy a little uninterrupted time to yourself.

Inside, you'll find a maze of hot mineral pools, two Finnish saunas, a walk-through cold plunge, steam room, treatment rooms and plenty of cosy corners to curl up and relax. The larger sauna will also host special Aufguss sessions, while the Hammam offers a self-guided body-scrubbing ritual using Sense Of Self's refillable Hammam Kits.

One of the more interesting additions is the Room of Deep Listening, a first for Sense Of Self. This immersive sound space features specially curated audio journeys by artists, designed to help guests switch off from the outside world and reconnect with themselves.

The design itself is pretty impressive, too. Created by architecture practice RITZ&GHOUGASSIAN, the space incorporates more than 90,000 hand-laid bricks alongside the building's original windows and concrete pillars, giving the bathhouse a distinctly industrial feel.

Guests can enjoy two hours of device-free bathing, with massages and facials also available for those wanting to extend their visit.

Sense Of Self Surry Hills is now open at 529 South Dowling Street, Surry Hills, with bookings available via the Sense Of Self website.
