Wondering What Products Are Actually Safe For Your Kids? This New Resource Could Help

Shopping for yourself can involve enough label reading. Add a baby or child into the equation and suddenly you're scrutinising everything from what's in their sunscreen to what their clothes, skincare, feeding products and nursery essentials are made from.

Recent headlines haven't exactly made those decisions any easier.

New Australian research examining sunscreen chemical exposure has sparked fresh discussion around homosalate, a UV filter found in some sunscreens, after its metabolites were detected in a high proportion of children studied. The findings have prompted calls for further investigation, although Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration has stressed that detection alone does not mean children are being harmed and continues to recommend sunscreen as an important form of sun protection.

For parents, it's another reminder of just how difficult it can be to work out which products to choose, especially when you're trying to look beyond the marketing on the front of the packet.

Which makes the timing of the latest Clean + Conscious Awards announcement so useful.

The 2026 Baby + Kids Award winners have now been revealed, recognising products across pregnancy, newborn care, baby and children's skincare, feeding and mealtime, clothing, nursery essentials, activities and everyday family life.

More importantly for parents trying to navigate those purchasing decisions, the organisation has simultaneously launched its new Baby + Kids Awards Category Hub, bringing all of the winners and the information behind their selection into one searchable destination.

Products entered into the Clean + Conscious Awards are assessed across ingredients and materials, sustainability, ethical practices and social impact before eligible products progress to hands-on testing.

This year, a panel of 90 experts from Australia and New Zealand trialled and evaluated products over four weeks, assessing quality, performance, innovation, sustainability and overall impact before Gold, Silver, Bronze and Editor's Choice recognition was awarded.

The new online hub allows you to browse the winners by category, but it goes considerably further than simply providing a shopping list.

Each winning product has its own page containing information about the product and brand, including its approach to sustainability, ethics and social impact, alongside hands-on reviews from members of the Clean + Conscious Expert Panel.

For parents already spending far too much time Googling ingredients, materials and product claims, having that information gathered in one place could make the research process considerably easier.

The Baby + Kids Awards are the third announcement in the Clean + Conscious Awards' new staggered 2026 season, following the Beauty + Body and Food + Nutrition winners.

And with everything from pregnancy products and nappies to kids' skincare, clothing, lunch gear and nursery essentials covered, the latest hub could be a handy bookmark for the next time you're standing in an aisle wondering which option to take home.
